May 20, 2010 was an unforgettable day, for those of us fortunate enough to join the great collection of educators, artists and thinkers of TEDxDUMBO.

Representing many perspectives in the arts-in-education landscape, the speakers thoughtfully, provocatively, and creatively addressed the themes of "How We Live in the Arts" and "How We Learn in the Arts."

Click on the names below for links to videos of their presentations.

Participants and organizers of the event assembled a list of some of our other favorite TED Talks (click on name & title for video link):

Elizabeth Gilbert on Nurturing Creativity
Eric Whitacre: A Choir as Big as the Internet
Evelyn Glennie Shows How to Listen
Jamie Oliver: Teach Every Child about Food
Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke of Insight
Rober Gupta: Music is Medicine, Music is Sanity

WHAT IS TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxDUMBO, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxDUMBO event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. (more info)
