The following important
information is intended to make your stay enjoyable and
safe.
Registration Information
Arrival Information
Whether residential or commuter, all participants need to
check-in at the Registration Desk in the Hillwood Commons
Lobby upon arrival on campus (look for the ESP banner at
the parking lot entrance). Check-in begins on Sunday,
July 13th at 11:30 AM. This is where you will receive
your name badge, ESP Summer Seminar ’08 Binder (which
includes schedules and other pertinent information), dorm
keys and any messages you may have received.
Registration Desk from 7:30am to 9:00pm, you can find staff at the Registration
Desk in the Hillwood Commons lobby, and they can help you
with a great number of things. You’ll also find:
- A message board to send and receive messages from other
participants and the office;
- Sign-up sheets to participate in Strut Your Stuff Talent
Show, early morning activities, etc.;
- A Community Bulletin board for posting employment opportunities,
events, etc. at your organization;
- Transportation Assistance: let the desk know one hour
in advance if you’ll need a taxi to go to the train,
etc.;
- ESP memorabilia: Water bottles, coffee mugs and backpacks.
Check-Out/Departure
Check out is by 10:00am on Friday, July 18th. Please leave
keys at the ESP Registration Desk when leaving. Any keys
not returned will result in an additional charge of $25.00.
ESP Headquarters
The ESP Headquarters is located in Hillwood 106 down the
hall from the Registration Desk, in Hillwood Commons. One
member of the ESP staff should always be on hand. If there
is an emergency and no one is in the office, inquire at
the Registration Desk.
C.W. Post Conference Services Staff
The Conference Services staff will be available during your
entire stay. Please feel free to ask them any questions
and share any comments you may have.

* The ESP Staff is working very closely with the CW Post
staff to ensure your stay during the conference is as comfortable
as possible. If there is anything we can do to make
your stay more enjoyable, please do not hesitate to ask at
the Registration Desk.
Emergencies
In the unlikely event of an emergency, campus security,
the Office of Public Safety is located on the East side of
campus behind the domed chapel. They can handle most emergencies
and will offer transport to the local hospital if necessary.
Non-emergency problems should be addressed at the Registration
Desk in Hillwood Commons.

Rooms Setup/Linens
Rooms have been set up with a twin bed, closet and desk.
One bath and two hand towels, sheets, a pillow and a blanket
have been put on the end of the bed. For your safety, please
use the second hand towel as a bath mat upon exiting the
shower. You are required to make your own bed upon arrival.
There are no extra pillows and linens available.
Campus Rules
- Dormitories, classrooms and common areas are strictly
non-smoking
- Alcoholic beverages may be served in prearranged designated
areas only. No open bottles in public areas.
- Except for emergencies, use only the front door of the
residence hall to enter and exit. Do not prop open exterior
or emergency exit doors as it breaches the security of
the building.
- Animals in and around the residence halls are strictly
prohibited.
- Please do not light candles, incense or other flame or
smoke-emitting device.
- Cooking in residence hall room is prohibited.
- Immediately evacuate building upon the sounding of a
fire alarm.
- Do not tamper with fire safety equipment or smoke detectors.
- Respect the property of others. A “lost and found” box
is set up in the main entrance of the dormitory for your
convenience.
- Allow other residents to enjoy a peaceful coexistence
while staying on campus. Please be mindful of loud noises
at very early or very late hours of the day.
- Report any mishaps or unusual circumstance to the ESP
staff.
Laundry Facilities
The laundry facilities are located in the basements of South
Residence Hall and Brookville Hall. They use coin operated
washers and dryers. The costs of these machines are $0.75
for a washer and $0.75 for a dryer – they take quarters
only. There are no change machines on campus; you must
provide your own quarters. See Registration Desk for assistance.
Parking
If you have a car and are lodging, you may park in the lots
adjacent to your dorm building. A parking sticker or permit
is NOT required. Please remember to keep your car doors
locked when parked on campus.
Personal Safety
For your own protection and safety, please remember to keep
your dorm room locked at all times and windows should be
kept closed when you are not in residence. Valuables should
be kept in a safe place or in your possession at all times.
If at any time you feel unsafe, please call Security to
report a problem or for an escort.
Meals
Meals for the Summer Seminar participants begin with lunch
on Sunday, July 15 (12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM) and continue
through the week, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served
daily. Breakfast and dinner will be served in the
Hillwood Café (Hillwood Commons), while lunch will
be served in the Winnick Student Center. The last
meal served will be dinner on Thursday, July 19th.
Please check the daily schedule for meal service times.
The East/West Café will be open during non-meal times
to purchase beverages and snacks on a cash basis only. This
facility will be open 7 days a week 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Note: Vending machines are also available to purchase
sodas and light snacks in Hillwood Commons, the basement
of Humanities and other locations.
Local Fare
Summer Seminar and C. W. Post will provide food for all major
meals, but if you should be interested in leaving campus
for a meal, check out the Restaurant Notebook at the Registration
Desk for sample menus. It’s easy to catch a cab to
your favorite spot.
Bookstore
The C. W. Post Campus Bookstore is open on the following
days and times during the seminar:
- Monday – Thursday: 9:00am - 4:00pm
- Friday: 9:00am
- 1:00pm
The bookstore features drug store items, food items, and
supplies for your convenience.
Additionally, the Bookstore has special ordered a unique
collection of publications authored and recommended by your
own ESP faculty. Stop by to check them out!
Cash Machine
There is a Cash Machine/ATM near the information desk in
Hillwood Commons.
Email Access/Computer Lab
Free Internet access is available to participants at the
following locations: Computer Lab on the 2nd floor of Hillwood
Commons, and in the Library.
Computer Lab hours: Mon 9am-6pm, Tues/Wed
9am-8pm, Thurs/Fri 9am-5pm.
C. W. Post dormitories are networked. Your computer must
have an Ethernet card in order to get internet access in
your room.
Library
The Library is open on the following days and times:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00am - 10:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am
- 5:00pm
ESP Summer Seminar participants may browse the collection,
including periodicals, but may not check out books.
Recreation
There are three outdoor tennis courts located behind the
Pratt Recreation Center. These are available on first come,
first served basis. Please provide your own equipment.
An outdoor running track, basketball and volleyball courts
are also available free of charge. A labyrinth and community
arboretum are also on campus for your enjoyment.
The pool in the Pratt Center will be available for guest
use during the following times only:
- Tuesday - Thursday 7:00am - 9:00am
- Tuesday - Thursday 12:00pm - 1:30pm
* PLEASE NOTE: Proper swimsuits are required for swimming.
Show your name badge at the door in order to gain access
into the building. Please keep in mind that due to the
large number of participants attending this conference,
some access restrictions may be instituted. |
