REGIONAL LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP NETWORKS

The Regional Learning and Leadership Networks are consortia of NYSCA-funded ESP Partnerships based on geographical proximity, and in NYC by grade level. Each school and cultural organization partnership is focused on improving schools by teaching and learning in and through the arts. Through a variety of professional development offerings, each RLLN develops a learning community and supports the natural leadership role of ESP teams in their regions.

VISION

We believe that by working together, we can contribute to and benefit from each other's practice in the field of arts-in-education.

Our networks are founded on the principle of shared leadership, where each member participates in making decisions, as well as conceiving and doing the work of each network.

We believe that sharing and collaborating benefit the members of our networks both individually and collectively.

MISSION

We come together, as a network:

  • to inspire, to aid, and to learn from one another;
  • to collectively contribute to the evolution and sustainability of the arts-in-education field; and
  • to contribute refined and improved definitions of excellence in arts-in-education on local, statewide, national and international levels.

STRATEGIES

In all of our endeavors, we share decision making and distribute responsibility, as much as possible.
We create and utilize mechanisms for effective communication, within each network and beyond.
We create professional development opportunities that focus on one or more of the following:

  • Sharing promising/best practices and successes of arts-in-education practice and partnership management, both within each network and beyond.
  • Sharing struggles and needs, as well as exploring possible solutions, from within each network and beyond.
  • Sharing resources, particularly resources of information, personnel and funding.
  • Advocating for support of Arts-in-Education in our communities.
  • Connecting to the curriculum of the ESP Office of Partnership Support and Research, especially Summer Seminar.

RLLN coordinators manage communication and planning for their regions. The network coordinators are:
