EPIC Theatre Ensemble presents
CITIZEN ARTIST CONFERENCE: JUNE 13 - 15, 2008!

Are YOU a Citizen Artist?

  • Are you someone who is (or wants to be) integrating social/political questioning into their teaching artistry
  • Are you someone who is (or wants to be) joining their passion for political engagement with their passion for arts-in-education?
  • Are you someone who wants to learn more about Epic Theatre Ensemble’s Citizen Artist program?

Then REGISTER for Epic Theatre Ensemble’s 3-day Citizen Artist Conference on June 13th, 14th and 15th in Midtown Manhattan for a small fee of $30. Our conference will be an enriching, interactive experience – where members of the arts-in-education community will immerse themselves in Epic’s methodology and techniques which place theatre at the center of civic dialogue. Please note that this fee is waived for participants traveling to NYC from out of town for the confernce.

  • Actively participate in interactive workshops that use theatrical techniques to explore power, status, empathy, perspective and ethics;
  • Consult (as individuals or teams) with Epic’s Lead Teaching Artists on how to integrate Citizen Artistry into your work;
  • Receive a complimentary ticket to see Epic’s Off-Broadway production of Palace of the End by Judith Thompson on Friday June 13th at 8pm at Playwrights Horizons;
  • View Student Performances form Epic’s partner schools;
  • Receive a Citizen Artist Curriculum Guide.

Our Conference will be held at two location sites over three days:

Friday, June 13: Playwrights Horizon, South Room, 416 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036

Saturday, June 14 & Sunday, June 15: ART/ NY, 520 8th Ave (between 36th & 37th), 3rd floor, New York NY, 10018

The New York State Education Department has announced seven Regional Forums as they prepare to update the ELA Standards. At the forums, stakeholders will be given a voice in the revision process. It is imperative that AIE advocates attend these meetings!
