Stories through Images
Dreamyard and PS/MS 95

Educator: Ms. Jackie McEneaney
Teaching Artist: Yvonne Lamar-Rogers

Grade 3
May 2009

Aboriginal Dot Paintings
Student Artists (from top to bottom): Precious Ortiz, Anita AduManu, Onajaah Meredith, Michelle Akuita, & Khali Ward
Construction paper, oil pastels, acrylic paint.

Students created collages that demonstrated their experimentation with the placement of shapes, pre-cut and torn paper, composition, and layering to tell stories through images.  They also used drawings that demonstrated experimentation with soft pastels and control of paint media with various brushes and organized space.

Listen to Teaching Artist Yvonne Lamar-Rogers talk about the many-layered process of creating this arts integrated project.

Great to see my students art work. Just a couple of corrections. Earthtone pastel paper was used, not construction paper and soft pastels were used to draw the Aboriginal symbols that told the stories of the lizards travels.
